Conscient du besoin vital qu’occupe la musique dans sa vie, c’est alors que Mathieu Bourret entreprend un baccalauréat en interprétation du piano classique à l’Université de Montréal.
Pianiste du groupe Oktopus pendant plus de 10 ans, il enregistre deux Albums dont LEVER L’ENCRE (gagnant du Syli d’or 2014) et HAPAX (nomination aux Junos pour l’album instrumental de l’année 2017).
Depuis 2020, Mathieu a pris la décision vertigineuse de poursuivre sa carrière de pianiste-compositeur en solo. L’année 2021 fut une année remarquablement créative pour l’artiste qui a composé 4 mini albums, soit un par saison se terminant par une compilation nommée LE CLIMATOLOGUE paru en septembre 2021. ILLUMINATION, son album de Noël, est paru en 2022
Pour son talent de compositeur et ses qualités de médiateur, Mathieu Bourret est récipiendaire du prix Artiste de l’année 2022, catégorie relève,
au Gala Culture Laurentides. Le 7 janvier 2023 marque la fin de son défi de 365 improvisations publiques, soit une performance par jour durant un an.

For his talent as a composer and his qualities as a mediator, Mathieu Bourret is the recipient of the Artist of the Year 2022 award, emerging category, at the Gala Culture Laurentides.
January 7, 2023 marks the end of his 365 improvisation challenge public, i.e. one performance per day for a year.
