Biographie
Fondé à Montréal en 1958, le Concours de musique du Canada anime la vie musicale au Canada. Le CMC est un organisme national oeuvrant dans le domaine de la musique classique, qui a pour but de soutenir et d’encourager les jeunes interprètes canadiens. Le volet régulier s’adresse aux musiciens âgés entre 7 et 25 ans (30 ans pour les chanteurs) tandis que le volet Tremplin permet aux participants âgés entre 16 et 28 ans (31 ans pour les chanteurs) qui visent une carrière professionnelle de vivre une expérience similaire aux concours internationaux.
Un rassemblement d'une telle envergure constitue une veille artistique de premier plan pour découvrir les meilleurs talents, un outil pédagogique privilégié pour les professeurs de musique (du niveau élémentaire au niveau universitaire), une source de motivation et un lieu d’apprentissage incontournable pour les musiciens de la relève.

Founded in Montreal in 1958 , the Canadian Music Competition has been at the centre of musical life in Canada for the past 60 years. The CMC is a national organization working in the field of classical music with the goal of supporting and encouraging young Canadian performers. The regular component is open to musicians between the ages of 7 and 25 (30 for singers), while the Stepping Stone component is allowing participants between the ages of 16 and 28 (31 for singers) who are embarking on a professional career to undergo an experience similar to those found at competitions on the international level. A gathering of this scale represents a leading artistic showcase for the discovery of top-level talent, a unique educational tool for music teachers (from the elementary school to university levels), and an indispensable source of motivation and learning environment for emerging musicians.
