www.cabaleband.comBiographie Cabale est un groupe de jazz moderne fondé en 2014 par le pianiste -compositeur Alex McNally et le batteur-percussionniste Andrew Beaudoin, alors qu'ils étaient encore étudiant à l'Université de Montréal.
Le compositeur s'inspire assez singulièrement des trames sonores de jeux vidéos ayant peuplés son enfance, afin de créer un jazz virevoltant et ludique. Dans ses compositions, il combine cette inspiration particulière avec son amour indéfectible pour la musique de certains pianistes actuels tels que Tigran Hamasyan et Neil Cowley.
Dans un esprit de franche camaraderie, les improvisateurs aguerris de Cabale développent les pièces du compositeur dans un élan presque mystique. Sous le mentorat du pianiste montréalais John Roney, Cabale lance son premier album titré Nomade en mai 2016, un opus au son coloré et intense. En hiver 2018, l'ensemble lance son premier vidéo-clip, Brise-Glace, dans lequel il expérimente avec un instrument hors du commun: une manette de Nintendo.
Dès lors, Cabale se donne la mission d'approfondir l'hybridation entre la performance musicale "live" et le jeu vidéo. Cette démarche se concrétise très fortement dans le spectacle interactif sur lequel le groupe de musicien-ne-s travaille actuellement : Aéro.

Cabale is a contemporary jazz quintet founded in 2014 by pianist and composer Alex McNally, and drummer and percussionnist Andrew Beaudoin, while they still were jazz students at the University of Montreal.
The composer is markedly inspired by the video game soundtracks that inhabited his childhood, imparting a playful and vibrant tone to his music. In his compositions, he combines this singular inspiration with his immutable love for the music of current jazz pianists such as Tigran Hamasyan and Neil Cowley.
It's under the mentorship of JUNO nominated pianist John Roney that Cabale released its first album, Nomade, an intense and colored first entry for the band on Montreal's jazz scene. In the winter of 2018, the ensemble released their first videoclip, Brise-Glace, in which they experimented with an uncommon instrument: a Nintendo controller.
From then on, Cabale has been set on delving into the hybridization between live music performance and video games. This has never been as true as it is for their current work in progress, Aéro, a "choose your own adventure" type of performance.
